A  much-changed Australian team that lost to England at the Oval five days ago regained some confidence without the Ashes as David Hussey crushes his first one-day international century and cruise to a 189-run victory versus Scotland in Edinburgh.

Hussey led his team staking his claim for selection in the soon-to-happen limited overs battles with England by hitting 111 from only 83 balls.

Scotland started off to a inspired beginning as openers Fraser Watts and Gavin Hamilton put on a fast 51.

But the hosts then dropped four wickets for 31 runs and the Aussies swept up the tail to crush Scotland out for 156 from 39.3 overs.

Australia gave debuts to Dirk Nannes – whose recent antic include a June appearance with Holland at the World Twenty20 – plus Tim Paine, wicketkeeper-batsman.

This marked a much-changed formation with only Michael Clarke, replacing Ricky Ponting as captain, Shane Watson and Mitchell Johnson remaining from the loosing side at the Oval.

Australia did not start off to the start they wished when David Warner was out for a duck in the initial over.

Nevertheless, despite the beginning wickets, the visitors proceeded at a fast pace, due mostly to Watson who claimed his fifty off just 30 balls.
