The much talked about potential end to the Cole marriage has finally materialized, with Cheryl separating from footballer hubby Ashley over ongoing questions surrounding his fidelity. However, according to divorce lawyers the millionaire playboy will hang on to his cash.

Cheryl’s decision to bring the curtain down on the couples troubled three year marriage apparently came about after allegations that Ashley had bedded a woman in the USA while on a pre-season trip with football club Chelsea. Not the sort of warm-up friendly encounter that Cheryl was hoping for.

Seemingly unperturbed by the accusations of cheating, one divorce lawyer said that it would not make a difference to any settlement if Ashley had scored with half the women in the country, as long as he did not spend the couple’s cash on the cooing. Legal advisers also point out that Cheryl has her own wealth generators and that the short length of the marriage made settlements easier. Cheryl had earlier refused to sign a pre-nuptial agreement as she found them disgusting.

The likely scenario is that both cashed-up superstars will go their separate ways quickly and move on, with Ashley rumoured to be contemplating signing with a Spanish or Italian side.

The financially fit footballer earns a tidy £120,000 a week playing for Chelsea or £6.2 million each year. His notoriety and ridicule for stating that he almost had a car crash when Arsenal only offered him a paltry 55,000 per week led him to be dubbed ‘Cashley Cole’.
