A jealous spouse who apparently set fire to her husband’s penis will have to answer a murder charge next October.

Rajini Narayan showed up shortly in the Adelaide Magistrates Court today, officially charged with her husband’s murder.

In December of last year, the mother of three presumably set the genitals of husband Satish Narayan on fire.

Mr Narayan suffered deep burns during the blaze and passed away several weeks later.

The blaze also gutted the family’s Unley home claiming a damage bill of $1 million.

During a previous court hearing last January officials had been told that Ms Narayan had said to neighbours: “I’m a jealous wife, his penis should belong to me, I just wanted to burn his penis so it belongs to me and no one else … I didn’t mean this to happen.”

Ms Narayan’s case was adjourned until October 30, when she will have to answer to charges of murder, arson and endangering life.
