Slammer Time For Sex Offending Female Teacher Dennis
A female music teacher has been charged with having sexual relationships with two of her students cried as she was received a four-year prison sentence.
The Ballarat County Court heard Michelle Lynn Dennis had betrayed the trust of the students.
According to Judge Susan Cohen, the offences of the 33-year-old were worst than that of physical education teacher Karen Ellis because she had been intimate with more than one student.
Karen Ellis was convicted of having had intercourse with one of her student in 2005 and had received a two-year jailed sentence for the crime.
The music teacher pleaded guilty to one count of sexual penetration of a child under 16 as well as two counts of sexual penetration of a child under her care, authority or supervision.
Dennis had originally denied the allegations, but subsequently admitted her crimes the day of her trial.
The court was informed that one boy had received 1000 text messages from the Dennis while another had gotten 300.
One boy had received nude photographs of her and she even invited his friend to have a threesome with them.
She picked up one boy from at his home and drove to a neighbourhood park where the pair had intercourse on top of her car.
Dennis brought the younger boy to her home where they got drunk and had oral sex.
The teacher’s lawyer claimed that she had developed the habit of heavily drinking during the 2007 crimes and would always keep a bottle of red wine in her car.
Despite being presented with inexcusable crimes, Judge Cohen did take into account the woman’s history of abusive relationships and alcoholic behaviour.
Now a registered sex offender, Dennis received a four-year and three months jail term with a minimum of two years and 10 months.
